As roupas apertadas que cobrem o corpo inteiro são chamados simplesmente de zentai. Esta é uma contração do termo "Taitsu do Zenshin" (numa tradução direta, "De corpo coberto"). Geralmente é feito com misturas de nylon, lycra e spandex. O costume foi desenvolvido primeiramente para a dança moderna, para acentuar a expressão corporal dos artistas.
