PORTUGUÊS: Hein? Como? Zentai? Que diabos significa isso? Zentai pode não ser um termo conhecido por todos, mas é provável que muita gente já tenha visto um. As roupas apertadas que cobrem o corpo inteiro são chamados simplesmente de zentai. Esta é uma contração do termo "Taitsu do Zenshin" (numa tradução direta, "De corpo coberto"). Geralmente é feito com misturas de nylon, lycra e spandex. O costume foi desenvolvido primeiramente para a dança moderna, para acentuar a expressão corporal dos artistas. Nas principais cidades do mundo (além de todo o Japão), o zentai vem ganhando adeptos. Convenções específicas e clubes de dança são alguns dos grupos que mais promovem sua popularidade. Os usos de zentais são vários. Cosplayers utilizam bastante os colantes cor-da-pele para dar o tom de pele dos personagens de acetato. Já atores de cinema e TV usam durante as produções colantes azuis (ou verdes - para efeitos especiais de croma-key), que retiram os atores de cena. Até a Nasa estuda usos de uma roupa colante sobre a pele, como um possível substituto dos atuais trajes espaciais. Estas roupas também são utilizadas por alguns como ferramenta para a meditação. Há ainda quem veja no zentai até um fetiche. Mas, enfim, há aqueles que o usam apenas para conforto físico. ENGLISH: Zentai (from the Japanese ゼンタイ) is a term for skin-tight garments that cover the entire body. The word is a contraction of zenshin taitsu (全身タイツ) ("full-body tights"). Zentai is most commonly made using nylon/spandex blends, but other materials such as cotton and wool are used as well. There are several variations based on the Zentai suit including mummy bag (similar to a sleepsack) and hybrid suits consisting of either a single leg and arms, or separate legs and no arms. Some companies have tried to create mainstream brands of the suits, by dropping the traditional name; in particular, examples include RootSuit or Superfan Suit in the United States and Bodysocks or Morphsuit in the United Kingdom. The latter brand, in particular, has achieved relative commercial success. Between January and late-October 2010, the company shipped 10000 alone to Canada. Morphsuits brand has actively tried to disassociate themselves from the existing zentai community, occasionally being listed as the product's co-inventor. Superfan Suits acknowledges that the outfits have existed previously in interviews. Their term has become somewhat generic in the process; one New Zealand-based newspaper refers to competiting brand, Jaskins, as a "one of the main online morphsuit brands." Jaskin company founder Josh Gaskin says their origins are unclear, pegging the first usage with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
