Triathlon Gear for your first triathlon

The number one question to all observers for their first triathlon of the application. As usual, there are several ways this question, depending on skill level, budgets, equipment includes current, etc., etc. ... For purposes of simplicity, we assume an answer to some things here:

First, because we are talking about someone new to the sport, we assume we are in a sprint triathlon or something similar. Meaning we talk about on relatively short distances, and believe me, I mean really on, because surely remember, think what a half-mile swim, a bike and eighteen miles 5k seemed to work simultaneously. But, as it relates to a full Ironman, we call it short.

Secondly, the budget is a concern. I suppose, because certainly do not want to go and dress the top of the line equipment, I think I can out of hand, only to find out, this sport is not exactly for you. (Do not let it happen)And in today's context, the budget is not a concern?

Swimming:

Go ahead and drop $ 20 to $ 30 in a couple of decent glasses. Do not try to go really cheap here, with $ 9.99 specials at local big box. We have done this, is nothing but a dispute, and are guaranteed to leak at some point. I closed the best luck with a good pair of goggles, rubber located at most sports stores.

Swimming clothes they are some possibilities. I wouldsuggest setting your sights on a race in a climate warm enough or a time of year that a wetsuit is not necessary. If you go the route of spending that will then outline. Of course, trying to borrow or going to be used, if possible, just make sure it is a triathlon wetsuit and practice out of the suit in time and let your bike shorts or clothing for a smooth transition under.

If you already have bike shorts with a built-intherefore very important, they swim. Yes, wearing spandex in front of other people, get over it. We are all together and no one will come to judge on race day, have other concerns. If your bike shorts, then you can swim course and finish the race running shorts. Make sure they are bright and comfortable. Gals with one or two T-pieces back does the trick. Be sure to only take care of comfort and safety belts during the race.

Biking:

Basically, what they have wheels in the garage or can borrow. This can certainly blow a budget when you are in this part of the machinery of tri. Start worrying about this after a race or two, for now we only do this event. Mountain bikes, road bikes, Standard Ten speeds are acceptable in all these races.

Make sure at least "cage pedals on any bike you choose. Clipless pedals are preferable, but back a couplecentury, after the purchase of special shoes. It 'important to ensure that the three cages during training. This can be a lifesaver when you learn the importance of cooperation between two legs on the bike. Push-pull push-pull but this is a whole book in itself.

Bicycle helmets are a must, and will not be allowed on the track without one. If you are one, have been great if you can borrow, great, if prices are not adequate local shops. $ 25 to $ 35get a decent helmet at this level.

You'll also quickly learn the importance of continuing the padded bike shorts or gel seat cushion, and to solve this problem before you get too far into training.

Running:

Do not skimp on shoes. Sorry, you need only to kill and spend some 'there. Get fitted properly by someone who can judge the weight, height, foot arch and running form, if possible. This will pay huge dividends during training and competitionDay.

As for clothing that is comfortable. Ideally, you should still wearing the pants (spandex or equivalent) helped to start the race. Many people shed some light running back on his bike and swimming suits during the first transition. True to you, keep comfort as a primary concern. We have reservations in future races speed.

This includes the three primary areas. There are the smaller elements and coveragetransition areas later. This is enough to let you know, there's no excuse not to with the right equipment. I saw this race and filled with about almost everything. And 'the decision to get up and do something that a lasting impact on your life. No excuses.
